Copywriter job description
The Asana Marketing team fuels business growth across revenue marketing, product marketing, brand, content, advertising, and lifecycle programs. We build campaigns, content, and experiences that drive impact at scale.
As our Senior Copywriter, you will be the definitive creative voice across Asana's Brand Creative team—shaping how the brand speaks across every channel, medium, and moment that matters.
This is a leaderful role as much as a writing role: you will define and steward our brand voice, set the standard for copy quality across the creative team, and bring language to life across campaigns, performance ads, sizzle reels, demo video scripts, and more. You will work at the intersection of strategy and craft—partnering closely with art directors, designers, producers, and cross-functional stakeholders—to translate briefs into work that is sharp, original, and unmistakably Asana. You will also be a teacher and force multiplier: codifying our voice in frameworks and guidelines others can apply, mentoring colleagues, and raising the bar for written communication across the Marketing organization.
You bring deep conviction and active curiosity to your work, including a genuine interest in how AI can augment the craft of writing. You know how to use these tools intelligently without sacrificing creative ownership, and you build workflows that help the team move faster without compromising quality or your own originality.
This role is based in our Vancouver, BC office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. Along with most Asanas, you’ll work from this office in person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you're interviewing for this role, your Talent Acquisition Partner will share more about the in-office requirements.
What you'll achieve
- Define, steward, and evolve Asana's brand voice: building the guidelines, frameworks, and reference materials that make great writing scalable across Marketing surfaces
- Serve as the hands-on writer and copy authority on campaigns, crafting language across formats, including: ads, landing pages, release communications, sizzle reels, demo video scripts, social content, and event materials
- Lead copy on the highest-complexity, highest-visibility initiatives from brief through final delivery—managing feedback cycles, cross-functional input, and timelines along the way
- Partner closely with art directors, designers, and producers to shape integrated creative, ensuring copy and design tell a coherent, compelling story together
- Mentor and coach colleagues and cross-functional partners on what does and doesn't ring true to Asana's voice; develop resources and tools that make strong writing more accessible to the wider team
- Drive alignment with senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners, presenting creative rationale confidently and leading feedback conversations with clarity and conviction
- Connect language and copy decisions to business outcomes, advocating for creative choices in terms of audience, objective, and measurable impact
- Identify and implement AI-powered writing workflows that increase speed, efficiency, and creative range, while maintaining authorial voice and original thinking
- Manage vendors and contract copywriters as needed, ensuring quality and brand consistency
- Give and receive direct, constructive feedback through critique, and contribute to a creative culture where high standards and generosity coexist
- Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously with strong organizational judgment, moving projects reliably from brief to execution
About you
- 8+ years of professional copywriting experience, ideally in-house at a technology company or at an agency working on tech brands
- Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
- A portfolio that demonstrates range across campaign copy, video scripts, digital advertising, and branded content—with a clear and distinctive point of view of B2B and B2C creative
- Recognized expertise in brand voice: you've built and documented voice frameworks, and you can teach others to apply them with consistency and confidence
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional creative projects from brief to delivery with minimal oversight
- Experience working alongside designers and cross-functional stakeholders in a deeply integrated creative process
- Strong strategic instincts: you connect language choices to business objectives and can make the case for your creative decisions to senior and executive stakeholders
- A fluent, confident communicator—verbally and in writing—who can drive alignment, present work persuasively, and model clear thinking for others
- Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools and experience incorporating them into writing workflows to improve speed, efficiency, or creative range—without losing authorial ownership
- High EQ and a growth mindset; you welcome feedback, generously share knowledge, and approach collaboration with a "yes, and" attitude
- All submissions must include a link to a portfolio or writing samples
