    Job Description

    In this Editor- Content Review role you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and integrity of cutting-edge research published at Taylor & Francis.

    You will be responsible for the delivery of content validation through desk assessment of submissions and published content to ensure alignment with Taylor & Francis’ quality and ethical benchmarks. The successful candidate will report to the Lead – Content Review and will join a team of Content Review Editors.

    This is a fantastic role for an individual with exceptional attention to detail, a proactive approach to process improvement and problem-solving, and a real passion for upholding publishing ethics and integrity and supporting the peer review process. You will be managing sensitive and complex stakeholder relationships including authors, editors, suppliers, and colleagues, so excellent communication skills are also essential.     Given the nature of the subject matter involved these roles would suit individuals with a Post-Graduate background preferably in a STEM subject, as you will be required to understand the scientific context of the articles you will support.

    What you will be doing:

    • Content integrity screening of submissions to ensure adherence to editorial policy and research integrity standards, suitability of submissions to the journal’s scope, and adherence to ethical and quality guidelines.
    • Assessing articles as required for image quality, plagiarism issues, and identifying any other related concerns.
    • Supporting other desk assessment teams with resolution of escalations and queries.
    • Supporting the wider Publishing Ethics and Integrity team in the delivery of strategic initiatives, including a program of journal ethics audit, testing and piloting of research integrity tools and ethics investigations.
    • Effective liaison with authors, reviewers, academic editors, and internal editorial teams on manuscript completion requirements and timelines.
    • Managing the quality of the content integrity screening services delivery through problem-solving, data analysis, recognising process improvement opportunities, effective feedback, and liaising with the broader Publishing Ethics and Integrity team and the Editorial Operations teams.
    • Staying up to date with internal and external guidelines on ethical publication practices.
    • Providing excellent and empathic customer service and management of internal and external stakeholder expectations.
    • Providing project support to the Team Lead where required, including on process optimization, reporting data analysis on test journals, training, meetings, and workshops by participating, organising, and collating meeting notes as required.
    • Handling confidential information sensitively with consideration for the legal and ethical issues that may arise due to mishandling.
    • Managing your own learning, taking responsibility to identify and develop skills gaps and active knowledge sharing

    Qualifications

    • A post-graduate qualification in a STEM subject.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the journal peer review process.
    • An interest and awareness of academic publishing, research integrity and publishing ethics.
    • Confident communication skills (emails, phone, and in-person) with a strong command of English spelling and grammar.
    • Knowledge and experience of process-driven workflows.
    • Experience working in a customer-facing role.
    • Ability to be detail-oriented, accurate, and a problem-solver.
    • Excellent organisational skills and confidence in completing multiple tasks to deadlines.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills and a desire to provide excellent customer service.
    • Ability to recognize process improvement opportunities.
    • Good persuasion and influencing skills, showing empathy for others’ viewpoints.
    • Flexibility to adjust to changes in work plans or assignments.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software

    Some experience with online submission platforms like ScholarOne™ or Editorial Manager® would be advantageous, although full training is available.

When you’re not spending time together in one of our offices or other workplaces – like at conference – you get the flexibility and support to work from home or remotely.

    The successful candidate will be able to utilise our balanced working model. We ask that candidates live within a commutable distance of our New Delhi office to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it to our office locations to collaborate as required. There is an expectation for a minimum of 3 days per week in-person time.
