Your Role
One episode could be the first step someone takes toward putting their faith in Jesus and building their life around Him. You make sure every episode has clear audio and professional video, with a conversation that keeps people watching.
You lead the podcast division for @JohnnyChangLive across three weekly shows: Bible Class, Spiritual Mentorship Class, and the Unlearned Wisdom podcast. A team spanning marketing, editing, brand, and a podcast agency supports the work. You own the operation from planning through release and are measured in three areas: operations, leadership, and growth.
You must be able to run livestream production independently, from equipment setup and testing through the live broadcast and troubleshooting.
What You'll Own
Own the calendar and delivery across all three weekly shows.
Lead episode planning and guest pre-production, including concepts, sourcing, pre-interviews, schedules, releases, and Johnny's outline.
Personally run each shoot and live broadcast. Own the cameras, audio, lighting, livestream software, recording backups, and technical troubleshooting.
Produce the conversation in real time. Build trust with guests, spot missed moments, respect off-limits topics, and call for clean retakes.
Lead the podcast team across marketing, editors, the brand team, and the podcast agency. Set owners and deadlines, give clear feedback, and address problems early.
Approve every finished episode. Assigned editors produce the clips, and you enforce the review process before anything is published.
Manage incoming brand partnerships through planning, production, approval, and delivery.
Use performance data to find growth opportunities and lead tests that improve the shows.
What Success Looks Like in Your First 60 Days
1. Operations
Release all three shows on schedule.
Keep four upcoming guest shoots confirmed by Day 60.
By Day 30, consistently follow our equipment-check and recording-backup procedures for every show.
Have zero lost recordings caused by setup errors.
By Day 30, achieve and maintain zero publication errors across episodes and clips, including incorrect files, titles, captions, links, or scheduling.
2. Leadership
Learn our existing systems.
Understand each team member's responsibilities and active tasks.
By Day 30, independently manage the team using our existing systems.
Keep deliverables on schedule.
Ensure episode and clip reviews happen before publishing.
Suggest and implement improvements to our systems where you see a clear need.
3. Growth
Establish the performance baseline by Day 14.
Lead two evidence-backed tests by Day 60. Show clear audience growth across all platforms.
Track every brand partnership and deliver each approved integration on time.
This Role Is Not for You If
This would be your first time producing a video podcast or interview show from planning through release.
Live technical problems make you freeze or lose composure.
You prefer staying behind the camera to leading people and shaping the show.
Detailed instructions are necessary before you act.
Non-Negotiable Requirements
Based in Los Angeles and available in studio 3 days each week, currently Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday.
At least 3 years producing video podcasts or interview shows, with a portfolio that explains your ownership and results.
A creative mind with strong storytelling judgment. You bring clear creative opinions and know how to turn a slow or unfocused conversation into a compelling episode.
A strong visual eye backed by hands-on camera skills. You know how to use framing, camera angles, lighting, and set design to make the podcast look more appealing, and you bring ideas without waiting to be asked.
You are an excellent interviewer and relationship-builder. Guests trust you, and your pre-interviews surface the story before recording day.
Proven leadership across employees, freelancers, or agency partners.
Hands-on experience with Sony A7S III cameras or similar, ATEM Mini Pro ISO, RODECaster Pro II, audio, and lighting.
Proficient in running multi-camera livestreams and operating OBS and Streamlabs. You can switch cameras and troubleshoot calmly on the fly while keeping the broadcast running.
Working proficiency with Adobe Premiere, Google Drive, and a project management tool such as ClickUp.
Compensation
The role starts at $6,000 per month and includes a written compensation review at 60 days.
Bring the vision and creativity to grow the podcast beyond what it is today. Compensation can increase at that review and grow well beyond the starting amount as you create measurable value through audience growth, reliable production, team performance, and brand partnerships.
