We’re seeking a talented senior technical writer and reviewer with extensive aerospace industry experience. who is also a capable CSDB (common-source data base) administrator. Deep expertise in the S1000D specification,to produce maintenance, flight and other manuals, is essential. An ideal candidate also will have experience managing project scope, as well as excellent communications skills and a collaborative attitude. This role involves working closely with other team members: the Technical Publications team lead, other technical writers, technical illustrators and subject matter experts, typically engineers in various disciplines. We want someone who prizes accuracy and thoroughness and would enjoy working in a dynamic environment.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
- Writing, peer reviewing and editing content for engine/aircraft technical manuals compliant with S1000D / ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English
- Using S1000D tools to manage effectivity/applicability
- Engaging with BETA subject matter experts (SMEs) in various engineering disciplines to obtain source data, observe procedures when possible, and revise content per SME reviews
- Extracting technical data from engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models
- Working with technical illustrators, providing markups and other information for graphics
- Using collaboration tools for document workflow tracking
- Meeting project deadlines
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (engineering or aerospace-related field is a plus)
- At least five years of experience authoring S1000D documentation for aerospace, including relevant CSDB administration and peer review experience.
- Deep knowledge of effectivity/applicability in S1000D
- Demonstrated experience with aerospace technical publications subject to approval by aviation regulatory authorities (FAA, EASA)
- Experience coordinating with engineers to extract and validate technical information
- Proficiency in XML authoring and CSDB management
- Familiarity with collaboration tools (Microsoft SharePoint, Slack, Jira/Confluence)
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to identify roadblocks and find solutions
- Strong track record of mentoring writers and illustrators on S1000D publications
- Thoughtfully curious about leveraging AI in technical publications
