Head of Brand & Strategy job description
Head of Brand and Strategy
The Role
Clinical AI is a category being built right now, and the companies that earn clinician trust in the next few years will set its shape for a decade. You’ll define who Lyrebird is, the point of view we bring to the category, and where that story goes next, working directly with our founders and global leadership team. You’ll own the narrative, the messaging architecture, how the story gets heard through comms, PR and brand media, and the brand-preference outcome across Australia and the UK. One brand, two markets, global from day one, with a clear path to leading the whole brand function.
You’re a strategist first, with real creative taste. You can sit with a CEO and shape a category point of view, then look at a piece of creative and say exactly why it’s off-brand. You don’t wait for a brief, you write it, and you’d rather build frameworks that let a whole company tell the same story than approve every output yourself. You care about measurement as much as the work, and you call it out when the data says the strategy isn’t landing.
About Us
Every day in Australia, 10 people die from preventable medical errors. Not from incurable diseases, but from misdiagnosis, missed information, and clinicians making decisions under impossible pressure. At the centre of that failure is a doctor spending 40% of their day on paperwork instead of patients. Lyrebird is fixing that.
We turn real clinical conversations into accurate notes, automatically, backed by ambient real time document creation, intelligent document management and clinical workflow automation, native patient data integrations across siloed health systems, and a patient and clinical communications layer.
Thousands of clinicians across multiple disciplines use Lyrebird every day in environments where accuracy, safety, and time matter deeply. We’re growing fast across Melbourne, the UK, and Asia, and there’s a finite window right now to set the standard for clinical AI before anyone else does.
What you’ll do
Define the company narrative and category point of view with our founders and senior leadership, and shape where the Lyrebird story goes over the next few years
Build a positioning and messaging architecture that works for enterprise buyers, clinics and individual clinicians across Australia and the UK, from NHS decision makers to solo GPs
Own brand awareness, consideration and preference among clinicians and health system buyers, and the measurement framework behind it: brand health tracking, brand lift, share of search and share of voice
Set the comms and PR agenda: category moments, spokespeople, thought leadership, and the agency relationships in each market
Shape upper-funnel brand media, from podcasts and OOH to sponsorships and events, in partnership with Growth Marketing
Drive the research agenda that informs how the clinical AI category gets built
Equip Product, Sales, Customer Success and Marketing with the narrative, frameworks and standards to apply the brand themselves at scale
Brief the Head of Brand and Creative and in-country GMs so the story anchors creative, go-to-market and operating plans in both markets
What you’ll bring
A track record of building a company or category narrative with founders or an executive team, and seeing it adopted across the business
Senior ownership of brand strategy, positioning and planning, at an agency or in-house at a growth-stage company
Creative judgement: you write briefs that get great work from creative teams and agencies, and you can articulate why work is or isn’t on-brand
Experience leading comms and PR, and using brand measurement to change strategy, not just report on it
The ability to turn insight about complex professional audiences, including multi-stakeholder enterprise buyers, into positioning, and to lead through influence with CEOs, NHS trusts and technical leaders
Nice to have
Experience in healthcare or another regulated, professional-audience market, including medical channels like associations, clinical publications and conference media
Running a brand across more than one market, ideally the UK and Australia
Exposure to integrated awareness planning across OOH, audio, podcasts, sponsorships and events, or to marketing mix modelling and incrementality studies
Building and leading a team, and using AI to sharpen every part of your work
In healthcare, trust decides who a clinician brings into the consult room. The story you build will shape whether clinicians and health systems trust AI enough to give doctors back the hours they lose to paperwork, and that time goes straight back to patients.
We’re building a team that reflects the diversity of the people who benefit from our work. We want Lyrebird to be a place where everyone feels safe, supported, and able to thrive. If you’re from an underrepresented background in tech, we strongly encourage you to apply, even if you don’t meet every requirement.
