Summary of the Director of Growth Marketing job at Cambium

Cambium is hiring a Director of Growth Marketing. Based in San Francisco, CA, US. Working arrangement: Remote. Expected pay: USD 160k-190k/yr.

About Cambium

Cambium is building the modern market for wood: physical supply, strategic advisory, and a digital platform that connects the two. We're about 100 people, we've made three acquisitions in the last 18 months, revenue grew roughly 5x in 2025, and the plan is to triple again in 2027. Marketing is a small team running four engines: Key Accounts, Velocity, Brand, and Lifecycle. Today the VP of Marketing runs Lifecycle herself, alongside strategy, brand, and everything else — that doesn't hold at the 2027 plan. Most of our growth will come from customers we already have: an architect or GC tries our material on one project, then comes back for the next one, and the next. Turning that first project into a long relationship, on purpose and at scale, is the biggest untapped growth lever we have, and nobody owns it full time — yet. As Director, Growth Marketing, you'll build Lifecycle from the ground up and own it end to end. You'll be the number two on the marketing team, and as we add regional demand gen roles, you'll lead the growth side of the team as it scales.

Director of Growth Marketing job description

Cambium is building the modern market for wood: physical supply, strategic advisory, and a digital platform that connects the two. We're about 100 people, we've made three acquisitions in 18 months, revenue grew roughly 5x in 2025, and the plan is to triple again in 2027.

Most of that growth will come from customers we already have. An architect or GC tries our material on one project, then comes back for the next one, and the next. Turning that first project into a long relationship, on purpose and at scale, is the motion we're building now, and we see it as the catalyst for 2027.

This role owns that motion. You'll build Lifecycle from the ground up and own it end to end, and lead a growing piece of the marketing team as we scale.

What you'll own

Day one

  • The lifecycle and customer communication program: nurture, onboarding, expansion, and re-engagement across HubSpot, and the email program end to end (sends, templates, calendar, deliverability, reporting)

  • Customer advocacy: our Built With Cambium program, testimonials, logo and quote permissions, and the customer voice work that feeds sales and brand

  • The self-serve plan with Sales: the quote-request experience, speed-to-lead, and the automation that gets the right customers a fast answer without a rep in the loop.

  • Customer base integration for acquisitions: each company we buy brings its own customers, lists, and CRM. You own bringing those contacts into one system and one program, and you run the playbook for the next deal

First 60 days, and where we are at six months

By day 60

  • A full audit of the current lifecycle stack: what exists in HubSpot and our email templates, what's automated, what's manual, what's dead

  • You've sat in Sales pipeline reviews and own the self-serve plan with Sales

  • One lifecycle program shipped that touches expansion (for example, a post-first-project sequence)

  • A read on where the acquired customer bases actually sit today (which system, which lists, what's been migrated, what hasn't) and a plan for bringing them into one program

  • A prioritized lifecycle roadmap for the next two quarters

At six months

  • Expansion revenue has a marketing program attached to it and a number next to it

  • The quote-request experience is polished and mostly automated, and customers who don't need a rep get an answer without one

  • Acquired customers are in one system, segmented, and inside the lifecycle programs, with a repeatable playbook for the next acquisition

Who this is for

  • 7+ years in growth or lifecycle marketing, with real time at a B2B company with long sales cycles

  • You've built a lifecycle function from close to nothing, and you've led a growth marketing team before

  • Deep in HubSpot or an equivalent (Marketo, Braze, Iterable). You build the automation yourself

  • You've run a customer program before: advocacy, references, community, or similar, and you know how to get customers to say yes

  • Comfortable with pipeline data: you can pull the query, argue with the number, and explain it to a sales leader

  • A generalist who figures things out and rolls up their sleeves. Asks a lot of questions. Fine with ambiguity; we're integrating three acquisitions

  • Uses AI tools heavily in the work, and has taste about it

  • Nice to have: experience in physical products, construction, or building materials, or any industry where the buyer is a professional with a project

The Details

  • This role will report to: VP Marketing

  • Salary Range: $160-190K

  • When: November 1st 2026

  • Where: San Francisco, 3x/week in our beautiful office in the Presidio!

Benefits and Perks

  • Equity options package

  • Flexible PTO

  • 401k matching

  • Comprehensive medical, dental & vision insurance

  • Work with an incredibly smart, diverse, climate mission-driven team

  • An opportunity to play a core role in defining our fast-growing company

  • Volunteer tree planting days
