What does a SEO Analyst do?

An SEO Analyst plans and executes strategies to improve a website's visibility in organic search results. Day-to-day work involves conducting keyword research, performing technical and on-page audits, analysing ranking data and competitor performance, and making actionable recommendations to content, development, and marketing teams. They monitor algorithm updates, track KPIs such as organic traffic and click-through rates in tools like Google Search Console and GA4, and produce regular reports that connect SEO activity to business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct keyword research to identify ranking opportunities and map terms to content
  • Perform technical SEO audits covering crawlability, site speed, structured data, and indexation
  • Analyse organic performance data and produce regular reporting on rankings, traffic, and conversions
  • Develop and implement on-page optimisation recommendations for titles, meta data, headings, and copy
  • Build and manage link-building or digital PR outreach campaigns
  • Monitor Google algorithm updates and assess impact on site performance
  • Collaborate with content and development teams to implement SEO recommendations
